Donation Program

For women unable to conceive with their own eggs but who wish to experience pregnancy, there is another option: a donor egg program

AFC currently operates its own egg bank, featuring donors who have undergone rigorous examinations. In addition to meeting the requirements set by Taiwan's Health Promotion Administration (HPA), we also perform chromosomal screening to guarantee the high quality of the eggs donated to our patients."

If you are not a current patient of AFC, you can consult with us online. Once it is confirmed that you will undergo the Donor Egg IVF treatment, please provide copies of both partners' passports, blood type reports, and a notarized marriage certificate."

The Donor Egg IVF treatment at AFC consists of three major steps:

  1. Physical examination and semen storage
You and your partner should complete the necessary pre-IVF workup requirements and ensure they are up to date. Physical examinations include tests such as blood tests, vaginal ultrasound, and hysteroscopy. Additionally, a semen analysis and storage for the man are also required.
  2. Egg match and fertilization
Egg matching and approval from the Health Promotion Administration (HPA) typically require at least 3 weeks. Following approval, embryologists fertilize the donated eggs with the man's sperm to form embryos. These embryos are cultured for five days and then cryopreserved in liquid nitrogen at -196°C.
  3. Embryo transfer
You will need to take medications to prepare the uterine lining for embryo transfer. Approximately two weeks after the transfer, a blood pregnancy test (bHCG level) will be conducted. If the test result is positive, an obstetric ultrasound (OB ultrasound) will typically be scheduled when the pregnancy reaches 6 weeks gestational age to confirm its viability. Following a second OB ultrasound at approximately 8 weeks gestational age, you will be referred back to your healthcare provider, who will continue to provide your prenatal care, such as your OB/GYN. You will continue taking medications throughout the entire first trimester until the placenta is fully developed.
